Temporary Works Supervisor – Scaffolding

Key Responsibilities :
- Supervision: Oversee the daily operations of scaffolding crews, ensuring work is performed according to the Temporary Works Design (TWD) and approved method statements.
- Compliance & Inspections: Conduct regular, documented inspections of all scaffolding structures before initial use, after any modification, and at mandatory intervals (e.g., weekly) to ensure ongoing stability.
- Permit Management: Manage the permit-to-work system for scaffolding activities, ensuring all high-risk work is risk-assessed and properly authorized.
- Coordination: Liaise with site mechanical and electrical teams to ensure scaffolding structures are placed strategically to facilitate work while maintaining clear site access and egress.
- Quality Assurance: Verify that all scaffolding materials (tubes, couplers, boards) meet quality standards and are free from defects; ensure correct tag-out/tag-in procedures are followed.
- Safety Leadership: Act as the subject matter expert on working at height, drop-object prevention, and structural load-bearing requirements for heavy mechanical maintenance.
Required Qualifications:
- Certification: Relevant scaffolding supervisor certification (e.g., CISRS Advanced Scaffolder/Supervisor, OSHA Competent Person for Scaffolding, or local equivalent) with experience in scaffolding supervision, preferably in power generation or heavy industrial environments.
- Technical Knowledge: Ability to read and interpret complex scaffolding drawings and structural calculations.
- Safety Knowledge: Expert knowledge of fall protection systems, tie-off points, and load-bearing capacities in a complex industrial plant setting.
- Soft Skills: Strong leadership and coordination skills; ability to manage multiple contractor crews simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with suspended scaffolding or complex multi-level structures around rotating equipment (Turbines/Generators).
- Familiarity with GE Gas Power site safety standards or similar OEM safety protocols.
- First Aid and/or specialized rescue training.
